Sen. Dayton came out in favor of the flag burning amendment again this year. With no re-election pressure, I guess we can assume that Dayton actually believes in that claptrap.
He is just saving us from ourselves. sometimes free people make bad choices and those choices need to be punished with imprisonment and fines. That's really what freedom is all about. People have to be beaten into it. God knows if left to their own devices, people wouldn't appreciate freedom enough. That's why you have to free them of their bad impulses through punishment before they are really free.
Afterall, what what kind of ridiculous statement would it make about our supposed "freedom" if 99.999999% of Americans freely chose not to burn the flag, and those that did were looked on with scorn and derision and tolerance? What would that say about the quality of love we hold for our country?
Personally, I am going to advocate that we arrest people who wipe themselves dry with one of Flag beach towel or soil the insides of their flag underwear.
Martin Olav Sabo supports lifting the ban on presidential term limits, too, and cosponsored a bill to that effect (more than once, I believe). But he sincerely believes there shouldn't be such a limit.
Yeah, God forbid we burn a flag, but don't get in the way of Wal Mart selling flag boxers. That's a slap in the face of capitalism to keep people from making a buck!
On a side note, my friend was planning on giving away American flags he bought at Wal Mart for Independence Day and record people's reactions when they learned that the flags were made in China. I'll have to get in touch and see if he followed through on this.

Dayton is complete moron.
I can honestly say I don't know anyone who supports this nonsense.

Yes, very disappointing.
