Kissenger = fat lady

I am posting this in contrast to Mona Charen's rose-colored contention that all we need to to avert disaster in Iraq is renew our determination to win.

Kissinger: Iraq military win impossible

If you mean by 'military victory' an Iraqi government that can be established and whose writ runs across the whole country, that gets the civil war under control and sectarian violence under control in a time period that the political processes of the democracies will support, I don't believe that is possible," he told the British Broadcasting Corp.

Kissenger knows a little something about lost causes. His conclusion naturally gives rise to the question, if military victory is impossible, does it follow that our military shouldn't be there?

Yes. That's precisely what it means. And to think that McCain wants to throw MORE troops into a situation for which there is no military solution.
