Daytonvkennedy

Check it out, folks, there's already a Dayton v. Kennedy blog up and running (written by a Mark Kennedy fan, natch). Um, so is there any chance we can convince Mark Dayton not to run in 2006? Not that Kennedy would beat him or anything, it's just that after the office-closing incident I'm convinced I can carve a stiffer spine out of a banana.

That whole office-closing thing, as blown out of proportion as it was, will probably haunt Dayton in '06. It's too bad since he seems to have been legitimately concerned about the safety of his staff. But I'm not so sure Kennedy will be a great state-wide candidate. His vicious attacks on Wetterling cost him a lot at the polls this year even in his conservative district. Should be interesting.

First bright idea I've seen here. You'd be wise to pick anyone else, hell a sock monkey will have a better chance than Dayton.

BTW, Dayton is complaining that the GOP won't let him go to Iraq because he carped on Bush. The more likely explaination is that they don't want him over there is because he's nuts!

Now that's the pot calling the kettle black, Spankee.

His heart's in the right place, and he was on fire at the DFL state convention... but he's always made me a little uncomfortable. And in this climate, I'm not sure he stands a chance.

I'd love to see Betty McCollum run. She's served on three important committees: Education and Workforce, International Relations, and Government Reform, and is steadily gaining the respect of her colleagues, who keep assigning her to leadership positions in the Democratic Caucus and Steering Committee. She's also extremely hard not to like. And she's not known for being crazy. I think she'd do well.
