Executive Order: Blocking Property of Certain Persons Who Threaten Stabilization Efforts in Iraq

Bush has issued his scariest executive order yet. It's probably the scariest executive order issued by any American President-- ever.

The new order allows the government to seize the assets and property of anyone that interferes with its Iraq policies. Some old-line republicans, such as Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury under Reagan, Pat Buchanan, and others are putting forward the idea that Bush will stage some sort of false flag event to push the US into a police state.

Please read.

I urge you to raise your voice to impeach.

I don't like having my fears and negative predictions verified. This unrestrained expansion of executive powers could not be any more subversive to the America our founders intended.

Roberts' predictions on a future attack and the imposition of martial law make me queasy. That and the Blackwater army the Administration has working for them.

hey're right on schedule, trashing the Bill of Rights:
- 1st Amendment - gone unless you're an evangelical end-timer or Zionist
- 2nd Amendment - don't try this at home unless you're white and a registered Cheneyite
- 3rd Amendment (quartering of soldiers) - wait 'till September '08
- 4th Amendment (search & seizure) - the Decider decided it doesn't matter
- 5th Amendment (self-incrimination) - see #4 and the "PATRIOT" Act
- 6th Amendment (speedy and public trial) - tell it to Jose Padilla
- 7th Amendment (trial by jury of commercial lawsuits) - quaint
- 8th Amendment (excessive bail/cruel&unusual punishment) - Guantánamo, anybody?
- 9th Amendment (rights not enumerated otherwise held by the people) - ask the Decider what rights you have today
- 10th Amendment (States have powers not expressly given to FedGov by Constitution) - de facto repealed 12 December 2000

What's left of our Republic? Does anybody still recite the Pledge of Allegiance with a straight face anymore?

If we can't get the Best Congress (Corporate) Money Can Buy to do their duty by impeaching Bush and his boss Mr Cheney, repealing the "security" laws enacted since 12 September 2001 and collectively resign, then we're left with the advice of the always-relevant Thomas Jefferson:

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
