Bush in a bubble

This is really, really depressing. It is a long portrait of the Bush whitehouse.

Dec. 19, 2005 issue - Jack Murtha still can't figure out why the father and son treated him so differently. Every week or so before the '91 gulf war, President George H.W. Bush would invite Congressman Murtha, along with other Hill leaders, to the White House. "He would listen to all the bitching from everybody, Republicans and Democrats, and then he would do what he thought was right." A decorated Vietnam veteran, ex-Marine Murtha was a critical supporter for the elder Bush on Capitol Hill. "I led the fight for the '91 war," he says. "I led the fight, for Christ's sake."

I would like to hear some advocates for Bush come up with an alternative view of the guy. By most accounts, Bush seems impervious to facts and actively punishes those who disagree with him. Is there evidence to the contrary?

So is Murtha bemoaning his loss of influence? Is all this just a hissy fit because he's not getting coffee at the white house?

Leaders? There's just two things Murtha's leading right now, and Jack just left town.

The Bubble-Bush mem is just the latest DNC/Moveon media campaign to paint Bush negatively. Its with out substance or basis. Evidence to the contrary? How about evidence for?

I like this quote from the NBC nightly news story...

Williams: "You don't read the newsweeklies at all?" (refering to TIME and NEWSWEEK)

Bush: "I really don't. I mean, I'm interested in the news, I'm not all that interested in the opinions."

I don't agree with Bush completely. I think that MSM talking head opinions aren't that important, but I think that the people's do matter.

Here's some that don't agree with Murtha. I think they are in a better place to know.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/12_12_05_iraq_data.pdf

When asked what would be the worse thing that could happen to Iraq in the next 12 months, only 8.9% chose "occupation not leaving Iraq."

When asked what would be the best thing that could happen to Iraq in the next 12 months, only 5.7% chose American forces leaving Iraq.

Even the MSM is having trouble spinning this one. Not that they aren't trying or doing a pretty good job.

Here's a little media based disconnect.

Life In Iraq: Percent Saying Good
In your life 70%
In your country 44%

Talk about misled...

Newsweek is not Moveon. Please. Did you even read the article? There are about fifty unnamed sources in there citing the fact that the boss doesn't listen - no, not just doesn't listen, isn't connected with reality.

It isn't new. And you didn't answer my question. Where are the sympathetic portrayals of Bush as an open minded listener, a seeker of wide and diverse opinions?

As the head honcho he can choose his advisors. Since when do those on the outside get to dictate who and what opinions the president gets to hear. Sounds more like sour grapes from those who used to have influence and now no longer do.

Is any consideration given to the fact that Mr. Murtha and others have continued to push a policy that has been long rejected by Bush and his advisors. So after a while one would tend to no longer feel the need to listen to them on any matters.

Iraq is really starting to become a rowsing vistory, our fighting men and women are securing the freedom of 50 million people from terrony and oppression. Sadly those who supposedly side with these values continue to attempt to destroy this glorious achievement.

What's really sad is for people like Chris. Any good news that comes under Bush is bad news for him and his croinies and there agenda. Matter of fact, I don't know what your agenda is except to criticize Bush every day. Now thats a agenda to get behind, good luck with that.

Its specifically my point that the MSM, which is reporting this "bubble" is full of crap.

Not just about this, but about Iraq etc as well.

Listening to morons isn't a virtue. Its a wast of time. The MSM has shown themselves to be morons, again and again. Its a positive that they aren't driving the agenda.
