All the kings horses and all the kings men can't find their asses with all the kings hands

First Bush rejects international aid, then he is forced to admit the US can't cope with the disaster, then finally asks the EU and NATO for emergency Katrina aid.

He is totally out of touch. Of course it is understandable given that his underlings, in this case Michael Chertoff, are cartoonishly stupid:

On Sunday's "Meet the Press," Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff told Tim Russert that one reason for the delay in rushing federal aid to the Gulf Coast was that "everyone" thought the crisis had passed when the storm left town: "I remember on Tuesday morning picking up newspapers and I saw headlines, 'New Orleans Dodged The Bullet.'"

Come. On. Just imagine for a moment that you are the President and you hear the Head of Homeland Security say on national T.V. that he read a newspaper that told him New Orleans was ok, and that's why he didn't respond to the crisis. Imagine that, especially considering almost no one outside of the people who were supposedly taking care of the problem thought it was ok. Just imagine. For me, it goes something like this: After I get done accepting the fact that I obviously hired a retarded person to run the largest federal agency in the land, the only possible response to such an idiotic statement is: "You're fired."

Um, I don't think he was saying that he got the news from a paper. He was saying that they weren't alone in their assessment of the situation when they thought NO dodged the bullet.

It should also be noted that this appears to be a Bush administration official saying "We were mistaken."

Of course this is a favorite tactic of the left. "Bush won't admit his mistakes!" and now that one has, the cry changes to "He made a mistake! Fire him! Bush can't be trusted."

Its a shame too. There is alot to criticise in everyone's handling and its the kind of criticism that if handled correctly could save alot of lives in the coming days. As well as the next time a disaster hits, and there will be a next time.

Bush didn't send the hurricane, folks it was an act of God/nature - force majeure, revenge of Gia or whatever.

Its too bad that the shrill voices are drowing out any hope of realistic reassessment and adjustment.

Yes Censored (nice to see you, btw) - accountability is a favorite tactic of the left.

- If you follow that link, it sure sounds like they WERE alone in their assessment that NO dodged the bullet.

- Shrill voices like... Jeff Jarvis, Trent Lott, Andrew Sullivan, etc.

Nobody here is saying Bush created the hurricane.

Bush Bashing fails again,

A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll of 609 adults taken September 5-6 shows:

Blame Game —
13% said George W. Bush is “most responsible for the problems in New Orleans after the hurricane”
18% said “federal agencies”
25% said “state and local officials”
38% said “no one is to blame”
6% had no opinion.

29% said that “top officials in the federal agencies responsible for handling emergencies should be fired”
63% said they should not
8% had no opinion.

Look for that "State and Local Officials" number to grow as the story develops.

Funny, it seems like only yesterday you were disgusted that the media was polling - now here you are republishing the polls.

When are you going to get this isn't about Bush Bashing - this is about finding out what went wrong and who is responsible, at every level?

Don't you get this was a huge fucking failure of government? Do you think we can handle a terrorist attack? Are you happy your president vacationed through the largest disaster in the history of this country?

I don't even really care about your answer, because you're a broken record trapped inside a tattered Republican flag.

Such maturity Chuckles.

"I don't even really care about your answer"

Wow, I can just picture you with your fingers in your ears going LA-LA-LA. What's sad is that'd be about tied for most insightful statement you ever made.

Not about Bush bashing? I haven't seen you post about the Mayor or the Gov. No, Chuck - when are you going to see. Your parroring of Kos talking points has worn thin. So thin, that you're down to just 13% traction. Maybe its time for you to open your eyes.

Yeah, Kos talking points That's what this is about. This is what I'm saying - you're a broken record. Most of your comments are about lobbing insults and false accusations at us, and/or touting your military service.

Sure, you may bury a cogent point in there somewhere - you're right, we should do a post about the mayor and the Gov. The problem is, your ocassional point is buried in a vat of feces, and I don't care to dive into a vat of feces.

This behavior is why you're a troll, and trolls are hard to take seriously.

I'm the troll?

You're projecting Chuck.
