Blink, blink, blink, blink, blink... buy the poor guy some eye drops.

Thoughts going through his head:

"Goddamned flip-flopper..."

"This is hard work."

"Goddamned flip-flopper..."

"This is hard work."

"Goddamned flip-flopper..."

"This is hard work."

"It's past my bedtime."

"Goddamned flip-flopper..."

"This is hard work."

"Goddamned flip-flopper..."

"This is hard work."

Bush overused hard work, stumbled and got frustrated having to explain that engaging China with North Korea was good (and different than not building a bigger coalition in Iraq.)

Kerry was poised and did well. He won't lose any support. It was a win for him except for contradicting himself (certainly will be the new GOP ad) and I think the "global test" might come back to haunt him.

Is it enough? Bush had a chance to bury him and missed. Its about the best he can hope for. The real debate will the 3rd one. Domestic issues ought to favor Kerry significantly, and he could make up some ground there. The problem is that the second one will be 90 sound bites and could make interest in the debates wither on the vine.

"The Global Test" will be Bush's biggest screw up. As Americans we as individuals may not always do what is right; however, we as the American Society demand that our government is right 100% of the time.

All Kerry has to do now is ask Bush if he believes in doing what is right regardless on the circumstances.
